Exterior Plywood
Exterior Grade Plywood is a durable, moisture-resistant panel designed for outdoor or semi-exposed applications. Manufactured using a Type A bond (phenol formaldehyde glue), it offers strong resistance to weather, humidity, and general wear — making it ideal for outdoor furniture, cladding (when sealed), signage, soffits, and structural facades. Common exterior plywood species include Hoop Pine and Birch, both known for their excellent stability and smooth, high-quality faces that are suitable for painting or staining.
Birch exterior plywood is especially popular in joinery and decorative finishes where a natural aesthetic is desired. Unlike Marine Plywood, which must meet stricter durability and void-free core standards (AS/NZS 2272), Exterior Grade Ply is not intended for prolonged water immersion but performs well when properly sealed and maintained. It’s a reliable, cost-effective choice for designers, builders, and homeowners looking for quality results in exposed environments.
Exterior plywood is available in A/A, B/C and C/D Grades and if finished correctly, is suitable for semi-exposed applications and other purposes where a high-quality aesthetic finish is desired.
*Also available in Imported Hardwood.
